Make the most of Slack with Message.Pro Bot Built by Devvela
Devvela’s first Spring release is neither website, nor mobile app. We’re happy to present Message.Pro, a chatbot that solves some problems typical for Slack users.
When Emmit South and Joe Grotto, MessagePro founders first connected with us they had an idea of a chatbot and a list of technologies typically applied to develop such bots. However, they were unsure which of the listed tech should have been used for their product. That’s where Devvela kicked off.
After quick research Microsoft Bot Framework appeared to be the best Bot development platform to build Message.Pro on. NodeJS was chosen to be used as an environment. MessagePro chat bot can basically be seen as a set of three features:
The first feature is Recap. It collects messages you’ve forgotten to reply to and presents them to you when you find time for that. We used PostgreSQL to build this feature.
Schedule feature deals with boring routine messages that still need to be sent on a regular basis. You set up reminders and schedule them to be received by others in your channels at the perfect time. This feature is facilitated mainly by RabbitMQ message broker.
And the third problem that MessagePro solves is messages with important information or sentimental value being archived automatically by Slack or deleted by other users, by mistake. Lock feature rescues such messages, even if you delete the conversation thread with that contact. Message storage is provided by Firebase.
We also built a landing page providing information about MessagePro, its founders, and pricing plans.
